There were a lot of good "dishscapes" that I streamed from YouTube onto the TV all month. This was a pretty one that looked like a painting.
Our Relief Society Christmas Party was a lot of fun! We did a gift swap game and had some delicious refreshments. My sister Jennifer went to it with my mom, which made me happy!
My friend Laurie made these beautiful ornaments for everyone in Relief Society. She's so talented!
Sam and I watched the First Presidency's Christmas Devotional together.
Sister Runia has similar hair to mine! π
I was glad to see that President Nelson was there. I love this dear prophet of ours, mine, and the Lord's so very much!
Funny children's holiday book titles that I saw when I was working at the library:
Get it? "All of the other reindeer" got changed to "Olive, the other reindeer." Clever!
I took myself out on a date to a beautiful "Christmas by Candlelight" string quartet benefit concert at a church near my house. It was my one cultural outing of the holiday season, and I really enjoyed it! I hope they do it again next year.
Sharalyn came over and we exchanged gifts. She got me these cute slippers that are warm and cozy and stay on my feet. I've noticed that some of my other friends have them too, so now I'm in the slipper "in" crowd. π
Our friends the Walthers dropped off a homemade gingerbread house-making kit for us.
I'm not good at these things, as you will see. π Sam tried to help because we were doing it together, but to no avail. I made the frosting way too thin. In my defense, the instructions were a little unclear about measurements! Oh well. π
I tried using toothpicks to keep it together, which worked for about 30 seconds.
My former co-worker friend from the library is a co-owner of a bakery, and she dropped off a dozen of these beautiful and truly delicious poinsettia cupcakes at my house! How sweet—literally! π I brought most of them to the library to share with the staff. This was so kind of her!
They matched the poinsettia placemats on my table perfectly. Imagine that! Ha ha.
I had it on my 2024 List to attend the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular in Manhattan. It didn't happen (again). Maybe next this year!
A few screenshots of holiday emails from businesses that I liked:
{Reading is what I do for most of the day on Christmas!}
I missed John a lot, but it really was a peaceful and joyful holiday season, and I was thankful for it and for the reason for it! π
