John had his first transfer of his mission happen in November. He missed his first area quite a bit at first, but quickly settled into his new one, which is a more rural area higher up in the mountains and is closer to Denver. He really likes his new companion, Elder Frenkel, who is from Germany and is 23 years old, so he's more mature but it sounds like he also goes along just fine with John's goofiness while also teaching him a lot of important things.
I'm happy to report that John is doing really well and is very much enjoying his mission overall. He's growing in a lot of good ways and is serving people and is sharing the all-important restored gospel of Jesus Christ with a lot of people. He deals with all sorts of people—those who are friendly but uninterested (this is probably the majority), unfriendly and uninterested, friendly and interested (those are the best ones 😄), anti and argumentative, and people with mental health issues and/or a lot of other problems in their life. Even though some of these interactions are difficult, they are helping his faith to grow and also his love and compassion for all of Heavenly Father's children. This is a wonderful thing for a mother to see in her son. I'm very grateful and feel so blessed that he has chosen to serve and that the Church supports its missionaries so well.
These pictures are all from before his transfer when he was still in Grand Junction, which is more desert-like, with his first companion Elder Davis, who was his trainer.
