A Delicious Harvest Feast at Plimoth Patuxet

Since Sam wasn't going to be with me for Thanksgiving this year, we celebrated it early on Saturday, November 9th instead. It was such a success that I plan to do it again in two years when he probably won't be with me for Thanksgiving that year, too. We went to Plimoth Patuxet (formerly known as "Plimoth Plantation"), which is one of my favorite American history and family history sites. We explored the village areas before enjoying the delicious and authentic Harvest Feast inside. I'm so glad we finally did this! It was 100% worth it and I really enjoyed it.

Ivy and fall leaves, a nice combination 😊

I love how the pilgrim village looks out over the sea. This is right around where the Mayflower came in.

Aren't we cute? We're direct descendants of several of the Mayflower passengers, including the first governor, William Bradford.

My mom and John A. were there too, which was fun.

Baaaa!

Everything is so well done and true to the time period, from the fences to the houses to the gardens. No anachronisms allowed!

This house was being "remodeled." You can see how the houses really are made the way the settlers did it.

A pretty garden scene

We did a family picture in this same spot when the boys were little. And then there were two!

Cute piggies!

When we went inside to the visitor's center, I had to take a picture of the "Moo-flower," which always cracks me up.

We shopped in the gift shop (which is large and excellent and among many other things, sells really good fudge!) before the doors opened for dinner.

The Harvest Feast was simply wonderful. I enjoyed it so much. It was communal dining at long tables. We shared dishes, had no forks, and ate on pewter plates. The menu was all authentic to dishes that were made in the 1600s.

Everything tasted good (surprisingly!). My favorites were the "sallet," mussels, and fish. What can I say, I'm a New England girl with Mayflower blood—seafood is practically in my DNA!

There was a big fireplace with a roaring fire, and we were seated towards the front of the room right near it, which was very nice.

There were three pilgrims there, too! They stayed in character the whole time, and they did it very well.

I highly recommend both Plimoth Patuxet and their Harvest Feast, which is offered each year during the month of November. I already can't wait to do this again in two years with Sam and whoever else wants to join us!
