October had some fun outings and get-togethers in it: a baby shower for my friend who adopted a baby girl, a book signing with one of my favorite historical fiction authors, and a witches' lunch on Halloween with my friends.
I've read several books by English historical fiction author Hazel Gaynor, and I've read another one that she co-authored with Heather Webb (who lives locally). They came to my favorite bookstore, An Unlikely Story, to discuss their new book that was coming out, Christmas with the Queen (which incidentally, releases today in the U.S.!). It was their first appearance in the U.S. talking about this book, and it was really neat to see them and meet them.
I'm going to read this next month—the perfect time of year for it!
I brought my other books by them solely for the photo opp, but they graciously signed them (which I didn't ask them to do, but they offered to do it, which was so nice!).
These are my Hazel Gaynor/Heather Webb books. I'll definitely be getting more in the future. They bring history to life and help deepen my understanding of it. Historical fiction is my second favorite genre. (Mystery has always taken the top spot, ever since I was young and fell in love with the Nancy Drew books.)
Me, Sam, my mom, Jennifer, and my nephew Rocco went to a "haunted happening" type of experience nearby in the woods. I liked last year's production better, but it was fun.
My friend Meredith hosted her annual witches' lunch, in which we all wear witch hats to it. 😉
Check out that centerpiece! 😂
Dessert!
It was a fun month!
