Nurturing November

This November has been kind of rough and hasn't exactly been one of the better months of this year. There have been a few difficult things that have happened, but the neat thing is that my day-to-day contentedness, peace, and overall happiness haven't been affected all that much. This to me is one of the blessings of righteous living and good discipleship, and I'm thankful to have it reaffirmed to me once again. I'm far from perfect, but I'm progressing, and I can see the fruits of the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. It's a wonderful thing to know and experience.
{Note to Heavenly Father if He's reading this—that doesn't mean that I want or can necessarily handle more! I remain your (hopefully) sufficiently humble daughter. 😅}

There have been good things this month too, of course. There is so much to be thankful for!

Happy Thanksgiving!

October 2024 Randoms

I liked October's picture on my kitchen wall calendar for obvious reasons.

This is the glass display case at the library. They asked staff for their book art and I obliged with three pieces to contribute: the "READ" letters on the top shelf, the "Read" book art on the middle left, and the dictionary page art next to it in the back. I was happy to loan them out, but I didn't realize it would be on a long-term basis. They're still there and the tops of my bookshelves at home continue to be sad and empty without them!

I want to get this book. And read it. 😄

Aurora, living my dream life.

Sam went to his friend's cross-country meet. It was fun because his friends were from the neighboring town and they were running against our town at the meet, and Sam has friends on that team too.

This was my attempt at seeing the Northern Lights. It's a tragic irony in my life this year that these are one of the things I've always wanted to see most, and both times that they were visible in Massachusetts this year (which is very unusual), I missed them both. 😭

Nope, nothing.

Hopefully next time! 🤞

I did some coloring for the first time in awhile. It's one of the few artistic things that I'm fairly decent at. Impressive, I know.

I watched a live webinar with some LDS politicians and members who support Trump, and he was on the call for part of it speaking directly to Latter-day Saint supporters. He did it from his plane on his way from a campaign stop in Arizona. Cool!

See the bottom left corner...

Glenn Beck was on, too.

I got a new calling in October: Relief Society First Counselor. My friend Jenny is President and my friend Virginia is Second Counselor. I don't like how I look in this picture of us but I'll put my pride aside and include it! I'm keeping it small, though. 😆
This will be my second time in less than four years being a R.S. First Counselor. I'm happy with the calling and I like it, but I miss teaching the 16-17 year-old Sunday School class. Meanwhile, Sam is relieved that I won't be his teacher next year. 😆 I was looking forward to that!

Speaking of Relief Society, my friend Meredith did this nice presentation about women in the scriptures at her house one evening.

Facebook fun!
Sometimes I miss the boys being little so much! We had a great life in Iowa when they were growing up.

Mr. Beast bars on display at Target. Sam and I are fans. They're delicious!

Aurora living my dream again...

🙌

I bought some blue-light blocking glasses because my eyes were feeling the strain from all the time I spend on the computer for work, email, webinars, etc. They make a great difference!
I wore glasses for years and it's kind of fun to wear them again sometimes.

Computer-less and therefore glasses-less on my exercise walk!

This is my favorite cheese. There's always at least one bar of it in my fridge.

I finally figured out how to curl my hair easily and with minimal effort and zero heat. Nice! Here I am on Halloween with my newfound curls and waves (and new Halloween headband).

A beautiful thank you card from Nate and Kat!

Wisdom, Inspiration, and The Babylon Bee in October

I've once again replaced the "Humor" in the title with "The Babylon Bee" because it takes up most of the humor in my life now, at least as far as my phone goes. 😆

Here was my wisdom, inspiration, and humor in October in the order I took them. Lots of election-related ones because of, well, the election.

Do we realize what is happening and what is going to happen?!

😂
Moses parting the Red Sea is one of my favorite stories in the scriptures!

I miss Ron Paul!

My kind of guy! 😄

I'm getting better at this, especially as I have to become more selective about what I do and don't do as a single working mother.

Good organization is one of my keys to success in life!

This one kills me 😂

✔✔✔
I would also add things like temple attendance and covenant keeping to this list. 😊

This is definitely me 😆

I sent this to my Sunday School class. I had recently taught about the sacrament and how sacred it is. I love thinking about it in this way.

Trump's McDonald's stunt was a genius PR move!

😂😂😂

I texted this one to Sam. We watch Home Alone or Home Alone 2 (or both) every Christmas season.

Those were the days!

I read a great article in my alumni magazine about research-backed ways to be more successful in life. This one mentions Trump (a fellow alumni) and it's actually complimentary! That's a first for Penn. 😂

A great Halloween costume for missionaries! 😆

Speaking of garbage...this is mean but funny 😏
