September Sam

I'm happy to report that Sam is enjoying his freshman year of high school. He likes high school, he likes his classes, he has good friends, and he's doing well (knock on wood!).
Along with high school, he also started seminary!

While I wish it weren't in the early morning, I believe that the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. There's no better way for a Latter-day Saint teenager to start their day, especially in this day and age in which we're living.

Also in September, Sam ran his second RAGNAR relay race, this one in New Hampshire. It started in the mountains and ended at the beach.

Sam didn't prepare well for this one and didn't enjoy it as much. The weather was a lot warmer than the one he did in May, and he didn't like the timing of when his runs were. The first one was in the heat of late afternoon, the second at around midnight. He wasn't able to run his third and final leg because during the second one, he hurt his knee. He was able to complete that leg, but one of his teammates ran his third leg because his knee hurt too much (too many legs and knees!). So it wasn't the best experience for him this time!

A mountainous start...

Check out his tat! And the water streak on his shirt! 😄

And a beachy ending!

The morning after he got back, I took him to Urgent Care for his knee.
There was nothing seriously wrong with it (as I suspected) and he didn't have to get an MRI or anything, but he was given a knee brace as well as a set of crutches, which he used for a couple of weeks, including at school. What an adventure!

And perhaps most importantly in September, Sam turned 15! We went out to dinner at The Cheesecake Factory to celebrate.

He really didn't want very much this year except for money, but I found a few other things to get him too.

Sam will always be my baby! He was the cutest, sweetest little boy. We had a very close and special relationship when he was young, and it helps form the foundation of our strong mother-son bond today. 💕
