Last month I spent a relaxing getaway weekend at Kripalu, a wonderful yoga retreat center in the beautiful Berkshire mountains of Massachusetts. It was my second time going there, and it won't be my last (knock on wood!). I hope to go at least once a year for the rest of my life.
We didn't do a program this time and it was nice to design our own schedule and pick whatever we wanted to do ("we" being me, my mom, Jennifer, and Hayley--for part of the time), which mostly consisted of yoga classes, a few workshops, eating excellent and healthy food in the dining hall, and naps. π
The room was nice and it had a beautiful view. I got the top bunk again. I didn't mind, and the beds and bedding were so comfortable.
My mom was probably texting her boyfriend in this picture. Ah, old love, it's a beautiful thing! π
The pretty but rainy view. It rained most of the weekend, which was a bummer because we would have liked to have done more hiking and walking on the great trails around the property.
The weather had cleared up by Sunday morning, but it was cold out!
We did make it out for one walk on Saturday...
"Oh look, a cute little bridge. Let me get a picture of myself on it!"
"Oh look, a great view of the lake! Let me do some yoga poses on it!"
I could have gotten my leg up higher, but the main point of this position is balance. Not to toot my own horn (not that there's much to toot about π), but I have pretty good balance, probably from my many years of ballet.
Still holding my balance but not the form so much!
I look dorky in these two pictures, but the scenery is too picturesque not to include them.
Nice!
Here I am up in my bed. I took a relaxing nap on Saturday afternoon. I love naps!
There was a memorable fire alarm on Saturday night (one of the guests had badly burnt something in the microwave or something like that) at around 10 p.m. and we all had to go outside for awhile until it was cleared. It brought me back to my college days when that happened way too much in the dorms!
I really liked this picture and quote that were hanging up in one of the stairwells.
I have a lot of experience with moments of uncertainty, and fortunately, I also have a lot of experience with things I value that have never failed to guide me forward.
It's so pretty at Kripalu!
On our way home, we stopped at my favorite cousin Kassy's house to see it and her family. She lives less than 20 minutes away from Kripalu in a really unique and lovely house that they've done a lot of work on. As a result of this visit, we decided to do our family Christmas party here this year!
It was a lovely and relaxing weekend. I'd been looking forward to it for awhile, and I'm already looking forward to when I'll return again next year.
