My 41st Birthday

Birthday #41 was a small, quiet, and pleasant affair (much like myself ๐Ÿ˜) with three of the most important people in my life (John, Sam, and my mom) in one of my favorite places, on a sunny, somewhat cool summer Saturday. It was a nice, relaxing, low-key day.

We ate breakfast at Pancake Man, where I got their hot chocolate, which is so creamy and good.

Their fresh-squeezed orange juice is my other favorite thing there.

I mentioned in a recent post that we went to the beach that afternoon, and that was fun. A little while later we went to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants on the Cape, Old Yarmouth Inn. It's been around in one form or another since 1696!

We ate outside for the first time ever there, and that was fun, but the service was very slow and Sam was in a bad mood, which wasn't so fun.

This beautiful bed and breakfast is next door.

My yummy appetizer pear salad. Pears are one of my favorite fruits ๐Ÿ

Waiting for the entrees...

I got grilled salmon with a tangy fruit chutney over asparagus spears and potatoes. It was worth the wait!

And a creamy, lemony dessert to finish it all off. De-lish!

Then we went home to celebrate with cake and presents.

Sam still wasn't in the best mood--you can see him over on the side with his head buried in his arms ๐Ÿ˜† But I was happy!

I made a wish! I hope it comes true!

I received very nice and thoughtful presents from my mom and the boys. I'm always thankful to my mom for helping to make my birthdays on the Cape special.

We watched The Princess Bride that evening which was fun. The boys hadn't seen it before and they liked it. How could they not!?

My birthday on the clock.

And my special "sign" number.
It's kind of hard to explain, but "42" has become a surprisingly significant number in my life this year. It seems random, but I don't think it is. So I'm already looking forward to Birthday/Year #42 next year (I guess technically it's Year 43 but you know what I mean.). In the meantime, I'm enjoying being 41. It feels good and I like being at the beginning of a decade. It was a nice birthday to usher a new age in--the age that I will get divorced and be single and on my own for the first time since college. Bring it!
