The Ballantyne

When we were in North Carolina in February, I stayed at a very nice hotel in Charlotte that Peter had stayed at before and knew that I would like, so he treated me to a day and a night there to myself. And it was indeed a treat! The hotel was The Ballantyne.

This gold antique mirror with an owl on the side of it was under the glass at the check-in desk. The hotel got my automatic seal of approval with that alone, ha ha.

My room was beautiful, the bed was very comfortable, and the view of a lake and the golf green was very nice.

I love leaning back against a padded headboard; it's so comfortable!

The room had an actual tiled hallway.

I liked the lighting and the set-up in the bathroom.

Selfie time in the mirror 😄

I relaxed in the room and read Emma, and I feasted on a delicious room-service dinner.

This chicken caesar salad was SO GOOD. I liked it so much that I got it for lunch the next day.

Heirloom tomato soup

This blackberry cheesecake tart was really good too.

Room service rose, so fragrant and lovely!

The hotel has a fancy spa, so that evening I got a really relaxing massage. I was sleepy after that, so I went to bed by around 9:30, which is pretty early for me, especially for a night out on my own!

The robe and bed linens were Frette.

In the morning, I walked through the hotel to the restaurant for breakfast. These were some of the views as I walked--a cozy conference room,

well-appointed hallways,

a beautiful chandelier,

a sweeping staircase,

and a lovely view outside.

My room was back there by the lake.

I got avocado toast for breakfast and it was the best avocado toast I've ever had!

I went to the spa again and got a Carolina Lavender Signature Wrap that morning. It was such a nice treat for my skin. Body wraps are probably my favorite thing to have done at a spa. You really can't get them anywhere else.

One end of the spa's waiting room.

After my treatment I had room-service lunch and finished Emma and took a nap.

😍😍😍

This chair was so comfortable. I love high-backed chairs because you can rest your whole back, neck, and head on them. I can curl up and take very cozy naps in chairs like these.

Before I checked out in the late afternoon I saw a family of ducks on the lake. I have a soft spot for ducks so that was fun to see. I started my stay with an owl and ended it with ducks, how perfect! 😊

I had a wonderful time at The Ballantyne and I highly recommend it if you're ever in Charlotte. It was definitely one of my favorite parts of our trip.
