I like our dining room light fixture and the pretty patterns of light and shadow that it makes on the ceiling when the light is on at night.
There's a really good quote I like that I can't remember for the life of me, but it's something metaphorical and quite touching about the contrast between the lightness and the darkness in our lives. There's also the beautiful scriptural teaching about being a light shining in the darkness, like Jesus Christ. I did find this quote that's kind of close to what I had in mind, so here it is.
"Maybe you have to know the darkness before you can appreciate the light."
-Madeleine L'Engle
Even when darkness seems to surround us, there are always sources of light and love that can provide peace, hope, comfort, and understanding to us in our times of darkness. Look for the sources of illumination, the things that bring true joy, and let yourself be lit up by them.
