Sam had a nice low-key birthday. It fell on a Sunday, a day in which we usually do exactly two things: go to church and spend the rest of the day together at home. So it was a nice change of pace from the day before that we'd spent at Adventureland.
Sam really likes gifts. When I read the book The Five Love Languages of Children a couple of years ago I immediately recognized Sam's love language as being gifts. The profile fit him perfectly. He loves getting gifts, shopping, collecting things, and having possessions. He's a lot like me in this regard. :-)
He got to open one present in the morning.
Surprise, surprise, it was a snake!
For dinner Sam chose some of his favorites--spaghetti snakes, rolls, and peas.
He liked his snake cake (of course).
I ordered it at a bakery. In retrospect, I wish I'd just made him one myself, but I was using the bakery for another cake that same week, so I decided to simplify.
I did do the writing though, as you can probably tell. LOL.
Cake and candles...
The candles were persistent and it took some big huffs and puffs to get them all blown out!
Finally!
We can't imagine our family and our lives without Sam in them! I thank God every day for him.
{I can't believe my baby doll is six years old!!}
