Day Out With Thomas

In September we went to "Day Out With Thomas," which had arrived for a few weekends in a town that's a little less than two hours away from us. It was a fun day trip, especially for train-loving, Thomas-loving Sam.

How exciting for little kids to see Thomas as an actual train-sized train!

First we went for a train ride for about a half-hour. It was fun, but I think it would've been more fun if the train went faster!

The ride featured pretty views, like this:

When we got back, we ate lunch and then hit up the gift shop. I know they're money-suckers but the kids and I have a weakness for gift shops! They had some really good and unique Thomas merchandise!

Next we went to a tent that was train-table heaven.

Needless to say, Sam didn't want to leave that tent! We went back to it again later.

There was also an obstacle course bounce house and a storytelling/video-viewing train car.
Quick game of "I Spy"! Can you spy with your little eye Peter in one of the pictures below?

It would have been nice to have had a family picture taken in front of Thomas, but John wasn't into it. He claimed that all this Thomas stuff was for little kids. But he did have fun, although he probably wouldn't admit it if you asked him.

He did, however, agree to have his picture taken with Sir Topham Hatt (who I thought was a little creepy looking!).

A few other pictures of our Day Out With Thomas...

Afterwards we drove about a half-hour to Des Moines, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner al fresco at an old favorite of ours, The Cheesecake Factory. It was a great day!
