Today is General Conference, so we get to enjoy the rare luxury of staying home all day. (We watch Conference on TV. I love the BYU Channel and satellite TV! I also love Conference. I never miss a session if I can help it.)
Anyway, since I'm going to be home and we're not expecting anyone to come over, today I'm taking a break from makeup, beauty products, and contact lenses. I think it's good for my skin, body, hair, and eyes to go without every once in awhile. They all need a break so they can get some fresh air and just breathe without products there. So after showering, I didn't put on my moisturizer, eye cream, or even deodorant (Sorry, TMI! I can get away with this, especially in cool weather, because I don't sweat very much). Then I detangled my wet hair and combed it out, got dressed, and I was done. I was ready in just a few minutes, for once. Normally it takes me about 20 minutes to get all dolled up after showering, but it's much faster with no moisturizers, makeup, hair products, and blowdrying. So the only things I'm using today are hand lotion and lip gloss, because I'd go crazy without them. And of course toothpaste and mouthwash because gross breath is just gross. I'm not willing to go that natural.
So even though I don't look my prettiest today, I feel comfortable with myself like this, which is nice. After all, it's the true me, physically. However, if the doorbell rings, I'll be up the stairs in a flash and hiding out in my bedroom! Only Peter and John get the distinct privilege of seeing me in this product-less state. So I guess maybe I'm not as comfortable as I could be. But that's okay with me!
